Various butterfly larvae feed from foliage, including the Eyed brown butterfly & the Appalachian brown butterfly.

Thrives near water. Provides great food source for waterfowl.

Preferred soil types are loam, silt, or sand rich in organic matter.

Grows 2-3 ft tall.

Loves full sun, but will tolerate some shade.

Tolerant to deer, erosion, & wet soil.
